Ribbons and Bows

DSC_0043

I am currently exploring the world of children’s millinery and enjoying the search for children’s vintage hats and bonnets.  Baby bonnets, of course, abound and those from the Victorian era are particularly dear. This little treasure is an embroidered net with cream-coloured, silk ribbon ties  and brow-line self-fabric flowers; likely a Christening bonnet. The machine-embroidered net is embellished with tiny bows.

Welcome! You have found the hat Show lady, Norma Shephard. I am a vintage fashion purist with a passion for hats.

I am interested in all aspects of vintage fashion, particularly millinery. The focus of this blog will be hats. Since founding the Mobile Millinery Museum in 1999, I have amassed over 2500 of them, half of which are featured in my collector’s guide, from Schiffer Books, entitled 1,000 Hats. image description
