While hats are always in season at the Mobile Millinery Museum, May is our busiest month; in fact, I’ve just come off of eight shows in nine days and am gearing up for next week’s schedule of Mother’s Day and Victoria Day hat show celebrations. We still have some spring and summer dates available for presentations, but if you’re thinking of holdong one of our signature retrospective millinery fashion show next May, now is the time to think about securing a date.
Our other themed presentations which can be booked year-round include the following:
Shoe and Tell: A presentation of iconic 20th century footwear
A Legacy of Lace: Jerry Lee Lewis sang about it and Bella Vexlar called it the poetry of fashion. This parade of lace and lace-embellishments traces trends in fashion from the Victorian era to the 1960s.
Gatsby Garments : What They Wore to Roar: This exhibit of roaring twenties fashion will have you wanting to throw on some beads and roll down your stockings.
Unsinkable Fashion, Costume from the Titanic Era: Many of these gowns are as ethereal as the fog that enveloped the fated ship.
Darlings of Dress, Children’s Costume 1860 – 1950: Our newest exhibit and the subject of my up-coming book.
